Publish to Ghost from Wavefront

Wavefront sends approved articles to Ghost as drafts, live posts, or scheduled posts Ghost holds until their time.

Admin API key Articles

What it does

Wavefront publishes approved articles to Ghost through the Admin API. New posts are drafts by default; you can also publish live or schedule a post, which Ghost holds until the time.

Ghost can email a post to your newsletter when it goes live. Wavefront only does that when you turn it on for the destination and a person asks for it on that post in the web app. Agents and API keys can never send it.

Before you start

  • Ghost 5.0 or later
  • Permission to add a custom integration in Ghost Admin

How to connect Ghost

  1. In Ghost Admin, open Settings → Integrations and add a custom integration.
  2. Copy its API URL and Admin API key.
  3. In Wavefront, open Settings → Publishing and choose Add destination. Pick Ghost.
  4. Paste the API URL as the Admin API URL and the key as the credential.
  5. Optionally set a default author email, and choose whether withdrawing returns a post to draft or deletes it.
  6. Choose Test connection. Wavefront checks the settings and credentials without writing anything, then you save.

What Wavefront sends

  • Title, slug, HTML body and custom excerpt
  • Meta title and description, Open Graph and X fields, and the canonical URL
  • Feature image with alt text, and the stock photo credit as its caption
  • The pillar as the primary tag, then keywords, up to 10 tags
  • The author matched to a Ghost staff user by name

Good to know

  • A sent newsletter email can't be recalled. Withdrawing only takes the post down.
  • A revision of a live post stays live, because Ghost has no draft of a published post.
  • Ghost adds its own structured data, so Wavefront doesn't send JSON-LD.
